Amish Country Bread

I made this bread today. It is a no-fail recipe. I got it from One More Moore. She has a darling blog. Anyway, I made it without the parmesan and rosemary, just this sea salt .

Amish County Bread
~One More Moore~
4 tablespoons sugar
1 ½ cups hot water
2 tablespoons yeast
2 tablespoons butter, melted
3 teaspoons salt
5 cups flour (+ or -)
1 egg
sea salt
dried rosemary
parmesan

Put the sugar, water and yeast into the mixer bowl and let sit for a few minutes so the yeast can do it’s thing.” Add the butter and salt. Slowly add the flour in small batches and mix with a dough hook for 8-10 minutes. Remove from mixing bowl and place in a bowl that has been greased and let dough rise until doubled in size (about 30 minutes).

Punch down and divide in half into 2 rounds and place on a greased cookie sheet. Cut decorative slits on top. Let dough rise again for about 30 minutes. Rub an egg white wash (1 egg white + 1 tablespoon water) over the top and sprinkle with sea salt, dried rosemary and parmesan. Bake at 400 degrees for 20-25 minutes.
